Mainly marketing support for technology products, and software development.

Technology and software tend to get complicated. I sort them into messages and communication that make sense from the user's side. Then I work on how that looks to customers on the shop floor, and how sales staff explain it.

Concept

"Broad and deep"

There is "broad and shallow", and there is "narrow and deep". My concept is "broad and deep".

That said, nobody can know everything deeply, so the deep places are limited. They are scattered. In AI research and related fields, this kind of scattering is called sparse.

Even sparse knowledge, when it goes deep, connects up in unexpected ways across distant fields. Have you noticed that too?

Services

What I do

Not just producing documents. Strategy, the sales floor, content, training, data operations. I take it through to something that actually runs.

01

Product and channel marketing

What the product is worth, who to sell it to, which channel to sell it through, how it differs from competitors. I sort that out and rebuild it into an explanation that lands on the sales floor.

02

Training for sales staff and sales teams

From program planning through to running it, developing trainers, and in-store initiatives. For products from non-Japanese companies, I take the head office's thinking and ideas and adapt them to fit the Japanese sales floor.

03

Sales analysis and process improvement using data

Visualizing POS, foot traffic, store assessment and activity data. Analyzing it from a data science perspective, forming and testing hypotheses, setting priorities, and turning it into dashboards or process changes.

04

In-store, visual merchandising and the sales floor experience

Sales floors, POP displays, fixtures, demo units, product pages, promotional tools. Proposals that cover not only the customer's view but also how the floor communicates with sales staff.

Categories I have worked in — PCs and peripherals / smart devices / AI hardware and services / software and SaaS / entertainment products

How we can work together — spot consultation / review of sales floors and materials / 2 to 4 week diagnostics / monthly advisory / project support

Products

What I build

I also build software. Right now there are audio-related tools available.
Alongside that, machine learning and data analysis work in Python.

Apps will be released for Windows, iOS and Android in turn.

Research

Walking around looking at price cards

Reading a retailer's philosophy and strategy out of the price cards on its shelves.

A price card is not simply a tool for showing a price. What gets communicated large and what gets made small. What it is compared against, and what happens during a sale. Which pieces of consumer information go on, and which get cut.

Electronics chains, home centers, drugstores, apparel. Every format tells it differently. How a company sees its customers shows up in that difference.

I intend to keep collecting and comparing these differences across formats and companies. Once it comes together, I would like to make something of it.
